Neighbors For Clean Air at EQC

Some information that came in an email relating to EQC meeting topics:

1. Join us on Thursday, 7/12 from 5-7 pm for a public hearing on the second draft of Oregon's upcoming health based air quality regulations!

Location: Taborspace, 5441 SE Belmont Street.

Environmental Quality Commissioners will have the final say on implementation of the rules, and they'll be listening to testimony on Thursday. We need to emphasize transparent public processes and shortening timelines for compliance in our comments. If you need talking points, you can find some from our allies at Eastside Portland Air Coalition here.

This hearing is part of the Environmental Quality Commissioners attending (part of the EQC’s three day public meetings, more info here).

2. Akash’s Farewell, 7/24 from 5 - 8 pm at the Loft at Ex Novo Brewery, 2326 North Flint Ave.

It’s the end of an era. Join us to say goodbye to our favorite man in a suit! We’re celebrating this incredible human before we lose him to law school in Vermont next month. Join us for drinks and camaraderie!

3.  Breathe Oregon: Air Quality by Design, August 14, 5:30-8:30pm.

PSU Native American Student and Community Center
710 SW Jackson St, Portland, Oregon 97201

This is the second in a series of events intended to determine what the most effective ways to protect people from air quality issues are, and to advocate for those solutions on a local level. Oregon continues to rely heavily on older diesel engines despite their severe impacts on public health, and the legislature has not prioritized diesel clean-up policies. The purpose of this event is to learn what’s worked elsewhere, and how we can advocate for effective air management on a local level. Research will be presented by the Institute for Sustainable Solutions at Portland State University and Multnomah County.
